Submitted by Micki from Texas in response to “What Are Your Issues”. Not all people with spinal cord injuries are in wheelchairs. Submitted by Patrick from Illinois in response to “What Are Your Issues”. In IL we are in the midst of crisis in political party representation, budget and debt, etc. I have heard from a trusted source that our Vocational Rehabilitation staff has been reduced by 25%, Submitted by Terry from New York in response to “What Are Your Issues”. My issue is accessible transportation. One of the greatest needs is more wheelchair-accessible taxis everywhere. I have used wheelchair-accessible taxis in Las Vegas and Fort Lauderdale, and in Montreal, Vancouver and Victoria in Canada, and I have found them to be very convenient and inexpensive. Submitted by Pamela from Texas in response to “What Are Your Issues”. What is your issue?: My boyfriend and I was in a motorcycle accident in December of 2008. Due to the accidnet he has a C6 injury. He is paralysed from the waise down. Submitted by Linda from Michigan in response to “What Are Your Issues”. What is your issue?: My issue is lack of “motorized doors”. There have been many times that I can’t open a door because of its weight. It seems like every rod in my back want to pop out. I remember the day when people used to pump gas for customers-at what they called “service stations”. The key to that business was just that, service. Today’s “Self Service” business model reduces costs for the businesses, but ignores the fact that some of us actually need service. ![]()
