Now is the time to take action. The final days of the healthcare reform movement in Congress are upon us. Only you – the true voice of America – can help healthcare reform cross the finish line. Submitted by Patrick from Illinois in response to “What Are Your Issues”. In IL we are in the midst of crisis in political party representation, budget and debt, etc. I have heard from a trusted source that our Vocational Rehabilitation staff has been reduced by 25%, By Sarah Peterson Washington, D.C.-At a press event at the Capitol Building on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA), House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (MD-5) and Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-5) joined the leadership of the Justice For All Action Network (JFAAN) in kicking off the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Some politicians are saying the new debate is, “healthcare or jobs”, but I do not believe it has to be that way. The reality is, if you have a job you will generally have better healthcare. As the U.S. Senate debates healthcare reform, an important provision that enhances independence and quality of life for people with disabilities is in danger of being removed from the bill. The folks at United We Ride are looking for you to mix it up with Uncle Sam and state officials in an online discussion regarding accessible and affordable transportation. This is a great opportunity so get on it. Be sure to bring some friends. |
