The plan is that they will be voting on the proposed bill this Saturday (November 7) in the evening. An evening vote will allow for the day to be spent debating the bill.
People with disabilities and chronic conditions have many great reasons to support the House health care reform bill: your disability cannot be counted against you as a pre-existing condition; your health insurance company cannot deny coverage; there will not be any yearly or lifetime caps on insurance coverage.
The House bill also includes the important Community Living Assistance Services and Supports (CLASS) Act - for people with disabilities to pay for services at home and in the community rather than being forced into an institution.
While the House health reform bill is not perfect, the good things in it make it a vast improvement for health care for people with disabilities. Spinal Cord Advocates strongly encourages you to take action and call your Congressman/woman and urge them to vote in support of the House health care reform bill now.
